Ek Balam
Ek Balam is one of the last archaeological sites discovered in the Yucatan Peninsula and is perhaps one of the most important Mayan ruins ever found. It is made up of several temples, two huge palaces and a large pyramid in the center of the city. On this site, the enormous dimensions of its buildings are particularly noteworthy; its central part is surrounded by two walls. Within the walled enclosure -of a little more than a square kilometer- are the most important structures, distributed in two large joined squares, which we call Plaza Central and Plaza Sur; Around them are numerous constructions of different sizes.
